Privacy Policy
At GeekISP we take your privacy very seriously. We respect and are committed to protecting your
privacy. This document is to inform you about some of the ways that your information is collected and used.
GeekISP is a service of Steinberg Computing, and the two names may be used interchangably throughout this document.
Technical Information Collected
Every computer connected to the Internet is given a domain name and a set of numbers known as
the "Internet Protocol" IP address. Like most web servers, when a visitor requests a page from GeekISP
our servers automatically recognize and log that visitor's domain name, IP address, access times, referring
web sites, platform, and browser type. This information reveals nothing personal about you other than the
IP address from which you have accessed our site. We use these logs to provide statistics about our Web site
usage in aggregate, to assist us in the maintenance, design, and operation of our Web site, and to investigate
misuse of our network, its users, or to cooperate with law enforcement. We do not collect and evaluate this
information for specific individuals. Our Web servers do not automatically record e-mail addresses of the visitors.
Information on Cookies
When using our sites, GeekISP may send a "cookie" to your computer. A cookie is a small piece of data that is
sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. A cookie can't read data off
your hard disk or read cookie files created by other Web sites. Cookies do not damage your system. We use cookies
to identify which areas of our sites you have visited. We may also use cookies to present personalized information
to you. You can choose whether to accept cookies by changing the settings of your browser. You can reset your
browser to refuse all cookies, or allow your browser to show you when a cookie is being sent. If you choose not to
accept these cookies, your experience at our site may not work as intended.
Email Announcements and Opting-out
We maintain a strict "No-Spam" policy that means that we do not intend to sell, rent, or otherwise give your e-mail
address to a third-party, without your consent. All mailing lists at GeekISP are opt-in. You will not be automatically
subscribed to a list without notification. You have the opportunity to opt-out of all mailing-lists. Certain periodic
mailings to related to billing may not be opted out of.
We will never index your mail or otherwise attempt to profile users based on your emails. If you elect to use GeekISP's
antispam solutions, your emails may be processed during the spam filtering stages. While we may collect data about usage
patterns related to mail or other services, that information will never be sold. Any such data will be scrubbed for components
which can be used to associate actions with users (i.e. IP addresses, cookies, etc).
Single-pixel Images
GeekISP may use single-pixel images, sometimes referred to as web bugs or web beacons, to count Web page accesses
and gather some general statistical information. GeekISP does not gather personal information through the use of
these images.
Disclosure Where Required by Law
GeekISP will disclose personal information and/or an IP address, when required by law or in the good-faith belief
that such action is necessary to:
- Cooperate with the investigations of purported unlawful activities or comply with legal process served on Steinberg Computing,
- Protect and defend the rights or property of Steinberg Computing and related properties, or visitors to GeekISP and related properties,
- Identify persons who may be violating the law, website terms of use, the rights of third parties, or otherwise misusing
the network or its related properties.
Your Consent to This Agreement
By using our web site and services, you consent to the collection and use of information by Steinberg Computing as specified
above. If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page so that you are always aware of
what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances we disclose it.
