Netscape / Mozilla Setup Instructions
Netscape and Mozilla based browsers of all varieties are compatible with the mail services offered by
GeekISP. If you have any trouble following these instructions, please
send an email to support@geekisp.com and we'll do our best to help.
| (1) |
First, go up to the Edit menu, and select the 'Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings' submenu.
We're going to add a new mail account, so click 'Add Account' in the bottom left.
|
| (2) |
Select 'Email account'.
|
| (3) |
Enter your name and full email address - this will appear on all outgoing mail messages.
|
| (4) |
Select IMAP from the drop down menu at the top. Then, enter 'mail.geekisp.com' for your incoming server.
|
| (5) |
For your account name, enter your full email address. Once you've entered this, hit Finish on the next
screen to bring you back to the 'Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings' submenu.
|
| (6) |
Scroll down to find the new account you've just made. Click on 'Server Settings' and check the box
that says "Use secure connection (SSL)". This will guarentee that your mail is secured to our mail server.
|
| (7) |
You're almost done! The account is all setup, but we still need to ensure that outgoing mail is secure.
Click on the 'Outgoing Server' in the left pane, and click the
'User name and password' box. In the box, enter your full email address. Last, move the
radio button under 'Use secure connection (SSL)' to 'Always'.
Please note that certain version of Mozilla have 3 options: TLS if available, TLS always, and SSL.
We recommend selecting "TLS always", though "TLS if available" will work as well.
On versions of Mozilla with a choice between TLS and SSL, the SSL option is known not to work.
